20-year-old student stabs hostel warden to death in Tiruchi district

Chennai: A student of a private institute of Engineering and Technology stabbed his hostel warden to death on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as G Venkataraman (45). The accused A Abdul Rahim (20), of Veppur in Perambalur, a second year B.Sc agriculture student at Imayam Institute of Engineering and Technology at Thuraiyur in Tiruchi district, has been arrested by the police.

It is understood that Venkataraman had informed Rahim's father about his absence in the hostel for four days. Following this his father reprimanded him.

Infuriated over this, Rahim went back to college on Wednesday and entered into an altercation with the warden. In the melee, he pulled out a sharp weapon and attacked Venkataraman who succumbed on the way to a hospital. Further investigations are on.
