214kg poppy husk seized in Baran dist, 5 arrested

KOTA: The Baran rural police on Sunday seized 214 kilogram of poppy husk being illegally transported by two separate vehicles in Kawai and Mothpur police station areas of Baran district. Five persons were arrested who were on Monday produced before the court. The court ordered to hand them over to the police for interrogation till May 24.

“The police team on Sunday during the routine checking of vehicles seized 150kg of poppy husk from a pickup vehicle on Kawai to Chhipabarod route near Hanuman temple and arrested three smugglers,” said Ramhetaar, SHO at Kawai police station. The three smugglers have been identified as Sitaram Jat of Nagaur district, Manoj Vishonai of Dangiyawas area and Pappulal Meena of Harnawadashahaji area of Baran district, he added.

The accused were transporting poppy husk by a pickup vehicle to Nagaur district for supply when the police team stopped them near Hanuman temple on Kawai–Chhipabarod route. On searching the vehicle 150kg of poppy husk was recovered, the SHO said.
