60-year-old widow raped in Baran

KOTA: A 60-year-old widow was raped by an unidentified man at her home in Katawar village under Mothpur police station area of Baran district on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. The woman’s medical examination was conducted on Sunday and her statements were recorded under Section 164 before a magistrate on Monday. Police have initiated efforts to nab the accused.

The woman has lodged a case of rape against an unidentified man, about 35-40 years old, said Hariprasad, SHO, Mothpur police station.

In the FIR, the woman stated that she noticed someone switching off the bulb outside her room around 12am on Friday, and went out.

“As she came out of her room, an unidentified man stuffed her mouth with a cloth and raped her. Later, the man fled on a motorbike parked on the road,” the SHO said.

The woman could not see the accused’s face due to darkness, he added.

On the report of the woman, police have lodged a case of rape under IPC sections 376 and 457 against the unidentified accused and launched bid to nab him, he added.

The SHO added that police was questioning men in the 35-40 age group in the neighboring areas to ascertain the identity of the accused.
