690kg ganja worth Rs 1 crore seized in Narsipatnam

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Narsipatnam town police seized 690kgs of ganja worth Rs 1 crore at Baligattam Check Post near Narsipatnam town in Visakhapatnam district on Friday. The police arrested two persons, Ashok Kumar Mourya (26) and Mohan Krishna (27) from New Delhi for attempting to smuggle the ganja.


According to circle inspector Lakshmana Rao, the ganja had been acquired from various parts in the Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB) region and was being transported to New Delhi.

According to reports, Mourya and Krishna were supposed to transport the contraband to a person called Phanindra Lal in New Delhi.

A case has been registered under the (Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) NDPS Act. tnn
