Accused of immigration fraud, woman arrested in Ambala

AMBALA: In connection with a case of emigration fraud registered at Ambala City police station , the cops on Monday arrested an accused woman Shivani of Ward No 6, Ladwa in Kurukshetra district.


On Tuesday, accused Shivani was presented before the court which sent her to judicial custody for 14 days in Ambala Central Jail .



On October 12, Jasbir Singh of Jhinwerheri village in Kurukshetra district lodged a complaint against Tek Chand of Sultanpur village in Ambala district and Shivani alleging that they duped him and Mandeep Singh, Manpreet Singh both of Chandigarh and Gurdeep Singh of Ram Nagar village in Patiala district of Rs 6.5 lakh each on the pretext of providing them jobs in Macau.

Following a case against them under Section 24 (offences and penalties) of the Emigration Act and 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the IPC was registered at Ambala City police station on October 12.

Jasbir stated in his complaint that the accused were running an emigration office in Ambala City to lure unemployed youths on the pretext of jobs in foreign countries.

“Accused Shivani has been presented before the court which sent her to judicial custody and further investigation is being done. This is the first arrest in this case and others will be arrested soon”, told sub-inspector Vinod Kumar from Ambala superintendent of police office.
