Agartala women's take road march to celebrate International Women's Day

Agartala: People in different parts of the country have been celebrating International Women's Day in their own way. The women in Agartala took to the streets to celebrate this day. To spread the message of women empowerment, the women in Tripura's capital marched on the streets.The march was organised by the Social Welfare and Education Department in alliance with the Tripura Women Commission.

Women from all walks of life participated in the march. From doctors to housewives,all the women marched on the streets to spread the message of women empowerment.

However, while talking to Mirror Now, Pranajit Singha, State Minister said that the march intended to give the message that Tripura is one of the safest states for women in the country. He also added that the crime against women in the state has dipped significantly in the past one year. A teacher at Swami College, Dr Baburam mentioned the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' policy of the government and said that rallies like these will help in making the future generations understand the importance of women and their empowerment.

The occasion of Women's Day was celebrated rather differently in Delhi. The female cops of the Delhi police patrolled the streets and made women aware of the apps that they can use to ensure their safety. While talking to the news agency, ANI, Sub inspector Saris Khan said that her concentration is on making women believe in themselves. She expressed her wish to instill faith in women that they can solve their own problems. An app named 'Himmat' had earlier been launched by the Delhi police to ensure safety of women in the capital.
