Andhra Pradesh: Vendor meet organised at Visakhapatnam Port Trust

VIJAYAWADA: An interaction meet on “vendor development programme-cum-buyer-sellers was organised on Wednesday in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, by the Visakhapatnam Port Trust .



The programme was organized to facilitate interaction with the local micro, small and medium enterprises on business opportunities with the port, a VPT press release said.



VPT has made a presentation to create awareness amongst the existing and prospective entrepreneurs regarding public procurement policy.

Addressing the meeting J Pradeep Kumar , chief vigilance officer of VPT, stated that the objective of this program is to provide common platform for business as well as selling organisations to interact with each other with a view to identifying emerging demands of the buyer organisations who explore the new opportunities available and to widen potential vendor base.

CVO further stated that the public procurement policy MSMEs has been announced by the government for the growth development and promotion of MSMEs by supporting them in marketing of products produced and services rendered by them. Under this policy minimum 20% procurement is mandatory to purchase by central ministry departments PSUs from MSMEs, out of which 4% is reserved for SC-ST entrepreneurs , the release said.
