AP records 7,948 positive cases & 58 deaths, total caseload 1.10 lakh

VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh reported 58 deaths and 7,948 Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the cumulative caseload to 1,10,297.


While the toll climbed to 1,148, about 3,000 people have recovered from the pandemic . There are currently 56,527 active cases with the 52,622 cumulative recoveries and 1,148 deaths.



Andhra Pradesh now has the fifth largest caseload of novel coronavirus cases, behind Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Karnataka.

A ruling party MLA from Kurnool district, who recovered from Covid-19, donated convalescent plasma on Tuesday. According to the state health officials, two doctors already donated the plasma alongside only tens of general public after their discharge from the hospital.

A 37-year-old patient, who was administered plasma therapy for the first time in Andhra Pradesh, was discharged from Kurnool hospital three days ago. The health officials requested all the recovered patients to come forward and donate plasma to save the lives of other critical cases.

Of the 58 deaths reported on Tuesday, 11 are from Guntur, 10 from Kurnool, 9 from Visakhapatnam, five each from Chittoor and East Godavari , four each from Krishna, Vizianagaram and Nellore, three from Anantapur, and one each from Kadapa, Srikakulam and West Godavari.

East Godavari reported the highest number of cases among all the districts of 1,367, followed by Kurnool 1,146, Guntur 945, West Godavari 757, Anantapur 740, and Kadapa 650.

When it comes to the district-wise caseload, East Godavari has 16,063, followed by Kurnool 13,380, Guntur 11,692 and Anantapur 10,987.
