Arsenal told Alexander Isak asking price as Edu plans Gabriel Jesus upgrade

Keith Wyness believes £100million would be enough for Arsenal to prise Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. The former Everton chief thinks that North London would be "perfect" for the Sweden international to continue the development of his career.

Isak is the Magpies' record arrival after a whopping £58million was cashed in

, luring him from Real Sociedad. The 24-year-old has had a gradual rise in the Premier League but in what has been a difficult campaign in the North East, the forward has stepped up.

In their last outing against Burnley, he made it 20 goals for the league campaign as his purple patch continued. Since returning from a groin injury in February, he has scored in seven of his last 10 matches.

football.london reported in January that Isak is a player that Arsenal have shown a willingness to pay big for in the past. Newcastle United have been forced to tighten their belts in regards to expenditure, following the takeover from Saudi Arabia's Private Investment Fund.

Eddie Howe has been forced to admit previously that they could have to sell one of their star players in order to fund the squad building they're hoping to achieve.

And Wyness believes he is the ideal forward option for Arsenal, he told Football Insider: "I think you’d be looking at somewhere between £80-100million, and there will be interest in trying to take him away from Newcastle. He seems like he’d be the perfect player up front for Arsenal.

"There’s a lot of issues with strikers at some of the top clubs. Isak has had some trouble with injury, but when he’s fit he has shown that he’s at that level.

"Strikers always come at a premium, so £80-100million will be the price tag – especially for someone like Isak, who will go right to the very top. I’m sure Newcastle will do all they can to keep him, but I think he could go further."

The door could be open for a summer move for Isak - should a deal be struck. Arsenal are understood to be considering the possibility of selling Gabriel Jesus this summer, only two years on from signing the Brazilian striker from Manchester City.
