ASA withdraws Bharat bandh amid elections

Jamshedpur: The Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan (ASA) has called off the Bharat bandh planned for April 7, Salkhan Murmu, the ASA leader and former MP, said on Tuesday.

The move comes amidst the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The bandh, including ‘rail roko’ and ‘chakka jaam’ protests, aimed to put pressure on the government for the Sarna Religion Code (SRC).

Murmu said the ASA will reschedule the bandh during their meeting on April 4.

He affirmed that the agitation for the SRC, representing 50 lakh Adivasis, will persist.

The ASA remains firm in its commitment towards achieving a separate religion code.
