Aurangabad doctors win big at international conference

Aurangabad: Two doctors won laurels for the city at the 7th International Conference of Geriatric Orthopaedic Society of India (Gosicon 2019) organised from September 6 to 8. The doctors were awarded for best paper and best poster presentation for their research on care of the elderly.

Zeba Firdous, junior resident at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH)’s geriatrics department was among the six participants who presented their papers at the event.

Zeba presented her comparative study of ‘Four fall risk assessment scores in geriatric patients with and without fractures’ carried out under the guidance of Mangala Borkar, professor and HoD of the department of geriatrics at GMCH.

The programme also saw Prasang Nihate, a PG medical student from the MGM Hospital win prize for his poster presentation. Nihate presented a case report on ‘free non-vascularised fibular graft reconstruction for badly comminuted compound metacarpal fracture’ prepared under the guidance of Abhishek Shinde assistant professor at department of orthopaedics at MGM Medical College and Hospital.
