Aurangabad: Ex-mayor catches mobile thief, gets bitten

Aurangabad: Ex-mayor Bapu Ghadamode was bit on his hand by a mobile thief on Friday night near Saraswat Bank in Cidco, N-1 area of New Aurangabad after the former stopped the latter from fleeing.

Ghadamode, who sustained injuries on his hand, did not let the thief flee and with the help of passersby restrained the suspect.

The accused has been identified as Ravi Kanoji Gorde (26), a resident of Sambhaji Colony.

Earlier, after committing the crime, Gorde was fleeing from the crime scene. At the same time Ghadamode along with his driver was standing nearby and waiting for someone, when they saw people shouting and running after the thief.

Wasting no time, Ghadamode nabbed the accused and later handed him over to MIDC Cidco police station. Gorde was produced before the court and has been remanded to one-day police custody.
