Bank retirees hold dharna demanding pension revision

Madurai: Retired bank employees held a dharna at Anna Nagar bus stand in Madurai on Friday stressing their long-pending demands be addressed immediately.

The Coordination of Bank Pensioners and Retirees Organizations and SBI Pensioners Association (Chennai Circle) requested the government and bank management to look into their various demands including early wage settlement and retirees’ issues.

They also demanded 30% uniform family pension, updation and revision of pension, 100% neutralization of DA and scrapping new pension.

Other demands include withdrawal of plans for merger, recruitment of staff in banks, implementation of Supreme Court judgements to retirees and removal of anomalies in superannuation in SBI.

The Coordination of Bank Pensioners and Retirees Organizations and SBI Pensioners Association (Chennai Circle) is planning to hold dharnas and demonstrations in Trichy, Salem, Nagercoil, Coimbatore, Chennai, Pondicherry and several other districts across Tamil Nadu in the coming days.
