Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley spark 'feud' rumours with clash on ITV This Morning as co-star steps in

Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard clashed on This Morning sparking 'feud' between the hosts as Vanessa Feltz was forced to step in.

The presenters joined the ITV daytime show back in March, having replaced

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. They have been a hit so far with viewers, however some were left thinking all might not be as rosy behind-the-scenes. Cat and Ben became fired up with each other as they took part in a heated debate on the programme this week.

They hosted a segment about how women still do the majority of the housework and Cat got so wound up she pointed her finger at Ben. Yet he branded his co-star a "control freak" and cheekily told her to "relax". Cat shared how she has to write lists of things for her husband Irish comedian Patrick Kielty to remember to do each day.

She was supported by Vanessa Feltz and broadcaster Camilla Tominey, who both said they end up doing most of the parenting responsibilities. Ben replied: "I think it is empowering. We are empowering you to maintain your strength and position..." An unimpressed Cat said: "Before I come to work, I literally have Post-It notes at six o'clock in the morning. Like this... stick them on everything. 'Don't forget the violin!'"

Ben quipped: "That's because you're a control freak. Just let it happen. Just relax. Just relax." Cat then looked to her co-stars for support as she told Camilla: "Unleash, Feltz! Unleash her, unleash her!" Vanessa chimed in with a story of when she headed to Chicago to co-host the Jerry Springer Show.

She said: "I had to make and label every single meal for my whole trip, as if it was a holiday or a pleasure cruise I was going on. It was for work!" Ben asked: "Do you think anybody would have starved had you not made those labels?" Vanessa fired back: "I had to!" Ben insisted: "YOU had to. It's funny how we all manage to cope even when we don't get those Post-Its or those list. We do somehow muddle though. It might not be as efficient, it might not be as organised, it might not be as nutritious..."

Despite the friction, they all managed to end the debate with a smile. Things got off to a rocky start for the pair on Wednesday as Ben poked fun at Cat for her outfit at the beginning of the show. Lorraine Kelly had been talking to Eurovision Song Contest UK entry Olly Alexander on her ITV chat show, before cutting over to This Morning to see what Ben and Cat had coming up.

Ben said: "You had lovely Olly Alexander on earlier, we're talking more about Eurovision. Cat's actually come as one of his dancers!" Cat laughed as she banged her hands on the desk. Defending her outfit, which was a vintage burgundy sparkling shirt and brown leather skirt, Cat said: "I have not! I'm in a vintage shirt today, Lorraine, because we've got the guy from the Sewing Bee on! And I've got a leather skirt on" to which she pointed her finger at Ben, adding: "It's not the same!" With Ben adding: "I thought it was, she could have been one of his dancers" to which Cat jokingly pulled an animated face.
