Bengaluru: Suburban rail project on track, says union minister Suresh C Angadi

BENGALURU: Union minister of state for railways Suresh C Angadi on Wednesday said there’s no delay in Bengaluru’s suburban rail project .

At an informal interaction with mediapersons here, Angadi said: “I have asked officials to expedite the project and have conducted multiple discussions with the officials concerned on granting clearance.”

Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan, who chaired the meeting said, “We can soon expect positive news from the Centre. There’s no need to worry.”

Asked about the deadline, Angadi said: “Why do you want to wait for 5 years? We can implement the project in one year with the help of efficient officials.” On the state’s luxury train service Golden Chariot, Angadi said IRCTC will take over it.

He said the much-delayed Byappanahalli third coaching terminal will be completed by February-end.

Mohan also requested railways to take over the doubling of Yeshwantpur-Channasandra and Baiyappanahalli-Hosur lines. “The doubling of these two lines were handed over to the K-RIDE but railways should take over these projects and execute it without any further delays”.

Mohan said they will conduct monthly evaluation meetings of the suburban rail project.
