New Delhi : Public sector Engineering major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has successfully commissioned the 1320 MW IB Thermal Power Station (2x660MW) in Jharsuguda district of Odisha. The project is owned by Odisha Power Generation Corporation Limited (OPGC), a joint venture company of the Government of Odisha and AES, a US-based energy company.
BHEL’s scope of work in the project encompassed design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of steam turbines, Generators, Boiler, associated auxiliaries and electricals, besides state-of-the-art Controls & Instrumentation (C&I) and Electrostatic precipitators (ESPs).
The key equipment for the project has been manufactured by BHEL at its Haridwar, Trichy, Hyderabad, Ranipet, Bhopal and Bengaluru works, while the construction of the plant was undertaken by the company’s Power Sector – Eastern Region, Kolkata
