Bidhannagar civic bosses take stock of Salt Lake, Rajarhat

Kolkata: Dengue menace has reached various areas of Salt Lake and Rajarhat . Several dengue cases are being reported from the fringes of Salt Lake that fall under Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation ( BMC ) area.

The most affected areas, where people are suffering from high fever or dengue are Kestopur, Mahisbathan, Sukantanagar, Duttabad, Narayanpur, Ashininagar and Mahisgote, all adjacent to Salt Lake.

BMC authorities said the situation has been under control till now compared to the last two years when 18 people died of the disease in Salt Lake and Rajarhat.

Nearly 200 people have been affected by dengue in various areas under BMC this year so far. One person from Partha Nagari in Baguiati reportedly died of the disease in September.

A BMC team headed by mayor Krishna Chakraborty and MMiC (health) Pranay Roy inspected a locality at Mahisbathan on Monday and found some residents suffering from high fever. Around five to six persons living in a highrise complex in the area were reported to have had dengue a week ago.

The civic authorities found stagnant water and mosquito larvae inside many under-construction highrise buildings in the area.
