Big blow to Congress: Tajinder Singh Bittu joins BJP after seving for 35 years in Congress

Tajinder Singh Bittu joins BJP : In a major blow to Congress ahead of upcoming Lok Sabha Elections,  a close aide of senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, Tajinder Singh Bittu joined Bharatiya Janata Party after stepping down as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary in-charge Himachal Pradesh.

Tajinder Singh Bittu joined BJP at the party headquarters in Delhi in the presence of Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and party general secretary Vinod Tawde.

               

Tendering his resignation, Tajinder Singh Bittu wrote, “I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress and from my post AICC, secretary Co-Incharge of Himachal Pradesh, effective immediately."

Bittu has served in different roles within the party, including participating in election campaigns, representing the party's interests, and engaging in political discourse. 

Bittu's resignation coincided with the commencement of voting for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in India. The first phase of polling took place for 102 constituencies spread across 21 states/union territories (UTs) on Friday.

The Lok Sabha polls will be held in India in seven phases, starting from April 19 to June 1 to elect the 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha. The results will be announced on June 4.

The second phase will be held on April 26 and the remaining phases will be May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1 accordingly. The last general elections in 2019 were also held in seven phases.
