Bihar: Case against Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi in Chhapra court for 'hurting sentiments'

PATNA: A complaint case has been filed in a Chhapra court against AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi for issuing ‘inciting statement’ and hurting the sentiments of people in the wake of the Supreme Court verdict on the Ramjanambhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute on November 9.


The complaint was filed before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) of Chhapra civil court on behalf of Abhimanyu Kumar Singh, state president of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, a right wing organization fighting for the cause of the Hindus.

The accused has been booked under sections 124 (A), 295 (A), 505 (A) (B) (2) of IPC and section 66 (A) of IT Act 2000.

Singh, a resident of Bhagwatpur village under Taraiya police station in Saran district said the complaint case was accepted and subsequently transferred to the court of additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM)-I. The case will be taken up for next hearing on December 4. He said Owaisi's controversial statement on the verdict of the apex court appeared on different social media.

“The statement is not only objectionable but also aimed at hurting the religious sentiments of the people belonging to the Hindu community. It’s tantamount to the SC ruling,” the petition says. Owaisi’s AIMIM recently won the byelection on Kishanganj assembly seat, the result of which was declared on October 24.

On November 11, a complaint was filed against Owaisi with the Jahangirabad police station in Bhopal on charges of giving ‘inciting statements’ on Ayodhya verdict. The top court on November 9 had ordered the Centre to form a trust to build a temple and also allot alternative five acres of land to construct a mosque.
