Bihar: Makers of 91kg 'thekua' eyeing Limca book

PATNA: 'Thekua', a revered 'prasad' of Chhath , got a new dimension as the four-day festival began with 'nahay-khay' on Thursday.

A 91kg 'thekua', prepared by a social outfit in Darbhanga, has become the cynosure of all eyes. Over 16 people took nearly 30 hours to prepare the 'thekua', the signature Chhath prasad of the state.



"The idea is to catch the attention of the Limca Book of Records . We have approached them and are hopeful that the 'thekua' will enter the record book. It is 11 feet in height and 6 feet in width," said B K Karna, president of Karn Kayastha Mahasabha (KKM).

The 'thekua' has been made as part of the two-day 'Karn Kumbh' organized by the KKM at Darbhanga. The 'kumbh', which concluded on Thursday, saw thousands of people from across the country and world participating in it.

Mrs Universe 2019 runner-up Aparna Bharti Kanth and Shloka of MTV Hustle fame kept the audience spellbound with their scintillating performances. Despite being a model, Aparna, who hails from Araria, impressed everyone with her singing skills.

Several renowned personalities from the community and family members of 91 freedom fighters were felicitated at the two-day function.
