Bijbehara woman dies, 73 new cases reported

A woman died of Covid-19 and 73 persons tested positive for coronavirus, among them two pregnant women, on Wednesday, taking the total caseload in J&K to 1,390.


A 40-year-old woman of Veer village in south Kashmir’s Bijbehara sub-district died of Covid-19 and pancreatitis at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, Srinagar, on Tuesday night.


“In J&K, 73 new positive cases have been reported since our last update yesterday — 36 from Jammu and 37 from Kashmir. Also, one Covid-19 patient died today at SKIMS, Soura,” reads the media bulletin on novel coronavirus.


At least 31 patients had recovered and discharged from various hospitals of J&K, it said.


For the first time Jammu has reported more cases than any other districts.


Jammu reported 20 fresh positive cases, Kupwara 17, Baramulla eight, Anantnag, Kulgam and Udhampur five each, Ramban and Kishtwar three each, Samba two and Bandipora, Pulwama, Kathua, Poonch and Reasi districts one each.


Two pregnant women tested positive today belong to Shopian and Kulgam districts.


Nearly 30 pregnant women have tested positive for the coronavirus so far.


Majority of the coronavirus cases have been reported from Kashmir — 1,188. Jammu has reported 202.
