Car goes up in flames, driver safe

Ludhiana: A car driver had a narrow escape near Jagraon Bridge when his car caught fire suddenly late on Sunday. Luckily, he was able to come out of the car before the fire could spread in the car. The fire brigade was called up for controlling the situation and it took almost half an hour for one fire tender to douse the fire.



As per fire officials, an old man was driving the car (Swift Dzire) and he told the firemen that when he was returning after dropping some relatives following a wedding reception, he noticed some sparking in the engine. He slowed down the car after crossing the traffic light near the military complex when suddenly the vehicle caught fire. He came out of the car before the fire could spread.

Fireman Rajinder Singh said it was around 12.30am when they got information about the fire incident near Jagraon Bridge. The fire tender from central fire station reached the spot but by that time the whole car was up in flames. He said first of all they opened the bonnet of the car for dousing he flames and then they opened the car doors. He said the seats inside the car were also completely burnt.
