CBSE Class X Result: Jamnagar boy is No. 1 in the country; Aryan Jha of Nand Vidya Niketan scores 499 out of 500 marks

The announcement of class 10 results by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday has given the state a reason to cheer. Of the 13 students nation-wide who have the highest scores, one is from Jamnagar. Aryan Jha, a student of Nand Vidya Niketan in Jamnagar, scored 499 out of 500 marks.

Ayushi Shah, from KD Ambani Vidyamandir in Jamnagar, got the third best score of 497 marks.

Ahmedabad topper Khushali Meena from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Vastrapur, scored 496 marks, along with DPS Bopal's Hardav Rawal and Megh Ingle of Surat.

Radheshyam Pandey, principal of Nand Vidya Niketan, said though their students have been scoring well, this was for the first time that they have a national topper.

According to data released by CBSE, the Ajmer region, which includes Gujarat, registered 95.89% results. Girls beat boys with pass percentage of 97.34 against the latter's 94.91.

Several schools in city scored 100% results. Besides, the number of students scoring 100 out of 100 in most subjects was also high.

Dwija Kakkad of Udgam School for Children scored 98.6%, Asha Patel of Maharaja Agrasen Vidyalaya scored 98.4%, Prakash High School's Dwija Mehta got 98%, St Kabir school's Khyati Jain scored 98.2%, Shanti Asiatic's Avani Tungare 97.8%, The New Tulip International's Sonalika Sen 96.40%, Airport School Ahmedabad's Mansi Valiramani and Sarvagya Acharya scored 96.17% marks.

"The result is better compared to last year. More students have scored 100 out of 100 in subjects like math, science and social science. It could be because of liberal checking," said Mrugen Shah, principal of Prakash High School.

Pragya Pandya, principal of St Kabir which has scored 100%, said, "It is good to see toppers not running after science stream. More toppers said that they would like to take up commerce."

"As many as 32 Kendriya Vidyalaya schools in Gujarat out of 47 scored 100%. The pass percentage was 99.13%," said Dr Jaideep Das, deputy commissioner at Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Ahmedabad region.
