Chandigarh: Jobless man ends life in Kishangarh

CHANDIGARH: A 29-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at his house in Kishangarh village on Thursday morning.

Ajay Kumar was alone at home when he took the extreme step. “Ajay was living in a rented accommodation here with his mother. On Tuesday, his mother left for Ludhiana to visit her brother. As Ajay was not taking his mother’s calls, she asked a neighbour to check on him.

When the neighbour’s repeated knocks went unanswered, he called up the police,” said a cop.

A PCR reached the spot and found the door locked from inside. “When cops broke open the door, they found Ajay hanging from a ceiling fan. He was rushed to GMH-16, where doctors declared him brought dead,” he added.

Ruling out any foul play, police said no injury marks were found on the body. “The exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. Ajay was jobless and a habitual drinker,” the cop said.
