Chhattisgarh: Prize Naxalites worth five lakh surrenders

Rajnandgaon: In Naxal-affected areas of the state by the police and security forces in Chhattisgarh are continuously running the Naxalite eradication campaign with full readiness. Its effect is also visible. Recently, many Maoists in the state have surrendered to the police. Impressed by the Naxal eradication campaign, a hardcore Naxalite operating in the Rajnandgaon area has surrendered.

Naxalites had a reward of five lakh rupees. Naxalite Rajesh Toppa alias Ajit surrendered before Rajnandgaon police on Monday.

Police said the surrendered Naxalite was an active member of the Malajkhand Area Committee. Under the rehabilitation policy, Naxalites surrendered by IG Himanshu Gupta of Durg Range have been provided 10 thousand rupees incentive. There were many incidents including an ambush on the surrendered Naxalite police party. It may be noted that earlier the active Naxalite platoon commander surrendered after being influenced by public awareness campaigns. A reward of eight lakh rupees was declared on it.

This was the mastermind of Naxal activities taking place in the Naxalite leader area. In the Chhattisgarh assembly by-election, active Naxalites had to face fear to spread panic. In the forest encounter between Kutrem and Samalwar of Kirandul police station area, two hardcore Naxalites, who were ranked 36th and 40th in the NIA list were killed by the joint force of police and DRG. Both Naxalites had a reward of five lakhs each.
