Congress functionary sends 400 stranded persons home from Delhi

NEW DELHI: Delhi Congress functionary Abhishek Dutt on Saturday helped 400 migrants and other persons stranded in Delhi due to lockdown to move to their hometowns. Dutt, with the support of a social organisation, arranged 14 buses in which the stranded persons journeyed back home in different parts of Bihar, UP and Madhya Pradesh free of cost.




"The travel was arranged with all due permission from Delhi government and strict social distancing was maintained throughout the entire process including inside the buses," said Dutt.

Many of the stranded persons were couples with kids, elderly and differently-abled persons. "It also included some persons who had come to AIIMS for treatment of family members or friends," said the Congress functionary.

The buses will be going to Begusarai, Madhubani and Muzaffarpur districts in Bihar, Raebareli district in Uttar Pradesh and Damoh and Chhattarpur district in Madhya Pradesh.

Various social organisations and also politicians from AAP, BJP and Congress have been helping the stranded persons in Delhi in different ways besides the government.
