Cops pose as customer, bust sex racket in Shimla

Shimla: Police have busted a prostitution racket using a decoy customer in Himachal Pradesh's capital Shimla on Thursday evening. Police have also arrested the accused and rescued two girls. The accused has been identified as Varinder Singh, a resident of SAS Nagar in Mohali.

The police action came following a tip-off that prostitution was being run through phone and Whatsapp calls in the city.

Police then contacted Singh and sent a 'customer'. Singh agreed to provide two girls for Rs 12,000 each for the night.

The accused first asked for an advance through online banking and Rs 2000 in cash which was agreed to by the cops acting as 'customer'.

A case has been registered against the accused and under Section 4 (Prevention of women trafficking Act), 370 (Trafficking of persons) of the Indian Penal Code.

Both the girls have been rescued by the police. The vehicle in which the girls were 'supplied' has also been taken into possession. The accused Varinder Sigh will be produced before a local court for police remand on Friday.

Along with it, a menu card displaying sexual positions as well as condoms were also found. The team have rescued four girls from the place and three traffickers have been apprehended. However, further information on the case is awaited.

Earlier this week, the commission had raided such spas in Nawada, Dwarka and other areas of West Delhi. On Monday, DCW said that the Delhi Police has registered a case after a delay of five days in connection with these alleged sex rackets operating from spa and massage parlours.
