Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu: Daily death toll crosses century

CHENNAI: The daily death number crossed the 100-mark in Tamil Nadu on Monday. The state reported 109 deaths, and the toll has reached 4,241.

Tamil Nadu also reported 5,609 fresh cases, and the cumulative case tally touched 2,63,222.

As many as 5,800 patients were discharged on Monday. The total number of discharged patients is 2,02,283.

A total of 56,698 people (22%) were still undergoing treatment.

While Chennai reported 1021 cases, Chengalpet reported 331, Kancheepuram clocked 32 and Tiruvallur recorded 332 cases. Chennai reported the highest number of 20 deaths.

Chengalpet (4), Kancheepuram (5) and Tiruvallur (4) together reported 13 deaths. Virudhunagar and Tirunelveli reported nine and five deaths, respectively.

The eight districts in the west reported 499 cases, with Coimbatore registering 227 cases. The region recorded 12 deaths.

The central region reported 441 cases and 10 deaths. Districts with high incidence were Virudunagar (348), Theni (305), Tuticorin (215), Ranipet (382), Coimbatore (227), Kanyakumari (215), Madurai (106), Thanjavur (146), Tiruvannamalai (212) and Vellore 134.
