Crop fires jump from 335 to 2,035 in day
Bathinda: After two days of decline in paddy stubble burning, a sharp rise in crop residue fires was reported in the state on Saturday.
As per the Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC), as may as 2,035 stubble burning incidents in 19 out of 22 districts took place on Saturday.
On Thursday and Friday, 130 and 335 crop fires were reported in the state respectively.
Bathinda once again topped the list of most straw fires on Saturday with 483, followed by Sangrur with 439. Fazilka, Hoshiarpur and Amritsar however reported only 1 incident each. With these, a total of 45,216 incidents of stubble burning have been reported in Punjab since September 23.
