CSK reveals the amount left in their purse for IPL 2020 Auction

The IPL 2020 has garnered a lot of attention even before its initiation due to recent trades and releases by the franchises. As the IPL 2020 auction is not too far away, the franchises will be busy in prioritizing their signings in the IPL auction. The trading window has certainly boosted the excitement level of IPL 2020.

The IPL auction will be held in Kolkata on December 19 and the BCCI has announced that the teams will have an additional budget of Rs 3 crore above the balance remaining from their Rs 85 crores from the IPL 2019 auction.

One of the most successful franchises of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings – CSK are expected to make some hefty signings in the upcoming IPL 2020 auction. After the IPL 2019 auction, the Dhoni-led side had a sum of Rs 3.2 crores left in their kitty.

Moreover, the side has gathered a sizable amount of Rs 8.4 crores in their purse by releasing five players from their squad. On 14th November, Chennai had announced through a tweet that the side would be releasing five players from their squad.  Chennai, who emerged as finalists in the previous IPL season, became the first team to reveal the list of retained and released players.

Chaitanya Bishnoi, Dhruv Shorey, David Willey and Mohit Sharma were released by Chennai ahead of the IPL 2020 auction. Furthermore, in a move that was surprising for many fans, top-rated player Sam Billings was also shown the exit door by Chennai Super Kings. The side will be eager to fill the void left by these players by going after eminent match-winners in the IPL 2020 auction.

With BCCI providing an additional budget of Rs 3 crore for all IPL franchises, Chennai Super Kings are now left with a hefty amount in their bank. The Yellow Brigade now has a total sum of Rs 14.6 to spend in the upcoming auction. Chennai will be eager to splurge their money on game-changing players. The star-studded side is expected to add more strength in all their departments. It will be interesting to see how the three-time IPL champions develop their team for IPL 2020.
