CST contest rewards engg innovations

Lucknow: Several innovative ideas by engineering students were awarded during the Council of Science and Technology UP ( CSTUP ) engineering student project grant scheme contest and exhibition held on Saturday.

The first prize of Rs 1 lakh went to Agrim Mohan Yadav , a BTech student from the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), and his team.

Abhishek Maurya from Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU) received the second prize of Rs 75,000, while Amit Dwivedi and his team from IET, Ayodhya, bagged the third prize of Rs 50,000.

“Our project focused on extracting spent lithium using a green solvent,” said Agrim, one of the team members who won first place. “This method has the potential to be an excellent solution for future e-waste management, underscoring its importance for environmental conservation.”

“We developed an assistive technology-based artificial intelligence eye for the blind,” said Ashwin Yadav, the second prize winner.

“The CSTUP engineering student project grant scheme invites final year BTech students to submit projects,” senior scientific officer Sumit Srivastava said, adding, “Following the evaluation, 60 projects were chosen to receive a maximum grant of Rs 20,000 each and participate in the exhibition. The top three projects from these 60 were awarded cash prizes.”

CSTUP secretary Shiv Prasad and joint director Radhey Lal highlighted that selected projects demonstrated high potential for solving issues relevant to daily life.
