Cyclone Nisarga effect: Thunderstorm, rainfall warning for several Uttar Pradesh districts

Lucknow: Around 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh are expected to experience thunderstorm/dust storm rainfall on Wednesday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said. Kanpur, Jalaun, Auraiya, Unnao, Lucknow, Gautam Budha Nagar, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Firozabad, Bareilly and some other places are expected to experience high-speed winds and rainfall.

Meanwhile Cyclone Nisarga today afternoon slammed the coast of Maharashtra with win speed of up to 120 kmph. According to the weather department, central Uttar Pradesh is expected to experience adverse weather conditions due to the effect of Nisarga cyclone.

The Cyclone Nisarga today made landfall at Shriwardhan-Dive Agar in Raigad district of Maharashtra with wind speeds of up to 120 kmph. Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg have been experiencing string winds a d heavy rainfall.

The IMD had issued Red Alert for Raigad, Mumbai, Palghar, Nashik, Thane, Dhule and Nandurbar.

The IMD's 2:10 pm bulletin stated that a fresh spell of scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers likely to commence over western Himalayan region and adjoining plains of northwest India from June 3 onwards along with isolated thunderstorm accompanied with gusty wind/squall and hail also likely during the same period. Isolated heavy to very heavy falls are likely over Uttarakhand and isolated heavy rainfall over Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during June 4-5.
