DC inspects process of allocating EVMs for Panchkula and Kalka

Panchkula : The first randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines ( EVMs ) was completed in the presence of Panchkula deputy commissioner cum district election officer Yash Garg and representatives of various political parties at the conference room of mini-secretariat on Thursday.

As part of the process, EVMs were allocated for respective assembly constituencies.

Two assembly constituencies of the district, Kalka and Panchkula, are part of Ambala Lok Sabha constituency. Addressing the media, Garg said that directions have been issued to officers to ensure the conduct of Lok Sabha General Elections-2024 in a fair, transparent and peaceful manner.

Later, the DEO visited the EVM-VVPAT warehouse located in the new building of Mini Secretariat. Garg opened the seal of warehouse in the presence of representatives of various political parties. He directed that the EVMs be delivered to the AROs of Kalka and Panchkula assembly constituencies at the earliest.

He said that 253 VVPAT, 233 ballot units and 233 control units will be sent for Panchkula assembly constituency, while 268 VVPAT, 247 ballot units and 247 control units will be for Kalka Assembly Constituency. While ARO Panchkula will keep the machines of Panchkula assembly constituency in the strong room at Government Post Graduate College Sector-1, Kalka ARO will keep the machines in the strong room established at Government Post Graduate College for Women, Sector-14.

On this occasion, Garg also inspected the media monitoring and media control room located in the same building, and got detailed information from the members.
