District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Khalid Jahangir, today convened a meeting to review status of various ongoing development works of Higher Education Department in the district. ADC Anantnag, Principals of GDC Boys Anantnag, GDC Bijbehara, GDC Dooru, GDC Utrosoo, GDC Larnoo, GDC Kokernag, Women’s College Anantnag, Nodal Officers of GDC Mattan, Chatisinghpora and Verinag, Deputy General Manager JKPCC Anantnag, Exen R&B and AEE Housing Board attended the meeting.The meeting was informed that GDC Kokernag and GDC Utrosoo have been completed at a cost of Rs.1280 lakh and Rs.1261 lakh respectively and handed over to the concerned for their functioning.It was given out that Rs.191 lakh have been expended on construction of additional class rooms for GDC Boys Anantnag, while as tenders have been floated for rest of the works.
The meeting was also told that Rs. 75 lakh have been expended on the construction of Women’s Hostel at GDC Anantnag and the same stands completed.The DDC was briefed that Rs.135 lakh have been expended on the construction of Canteen cum Laboratory Block at GDC Bijbehara, which stands completed and handed over.With regard to construction of GDC Women Verinag, it was said that survey and soil investigation has been completed and DPR has been submitted. For the construction of additional accommodation blocks at GDC Women Anantnag, DPR for Rs.92 lakh has also been submitted.
Similarly, DPR for Rs.34 crores for GDC Aishmuqam stands submitted with 100 Kanals land available.It was given out that the tenders have been floated for the construction of additional academic block at GDC Kokernag, while Rs.29 lakh have been sanctioned for construction of IT Block, Toilet Block and Administration Block through SICOP.Speaking on the occasion, the DDC stressed upon the concerned agencies to work with zeal and zest and speeding up the pace of ongoing works for timely completion.He also directed for construction of multi-storeyed building at GDC Anantnag.
He asked Nodal Officer GDC Mattan to start the process of construction of college building for which a DPR amounting to Rs.43 crore has been submitted and 23 Kanals of land has been identified.
