Delhi: This was the reason for gang war shootout on Dwarka streets

New Delhi: In the 1990s it was Mumbai that was infamous for gangwar on the streets. But the same gangwar was witnessed on the streets of Delhi on Sunday. One suspected criminal was killed by a rival gang on Dwarka Mor metro station in South West Delhi. But what was the reason for this bloody shootout?
 
A probe has revealed that the shootout was the result of a plot of land worth Rs 1 crore.

The plot measuring 600 sq feet is located at Mohan Garden in west Delhi.

According to a report in Times of India, the two gangsters-Vikas Dalal and Praveen Gehlot-who were killed in the shootout were trying to grab the plot.

The report also said that the police is also probing the possibility of a financial dispute between the two gang over sharing of money earned through betting.

The police probe into the shootout further indicates that two criminals were following the deceased Gehlot from his house in Nawada in West Delhi and were sending the location to their associates.  The shooters had come in a Maruti Swift car and a motorcycle and left the bike a few meters ahead of the crime spot.

According to police, the focus of the probe is to arrest the culprits seen in a mobile footage and others who were riding a bike. While one attackers was also shot dead by police during the firefight. Two people involved in the shootout managed to flee.

Police say they have information from their informers that criminals from Bhiwani, Jhajjar, Najafgarh were involved in the deadly shootout. Police have identified the shooters as Neeraj, a resident from Gohana and one Surya alias Ankit.

Raids have been conducted at multiple locations and the vehicles used by the gangsters have been sent for forensic analysis," the repport quoted Joint CP (western range) Madhup Tiwari as saying.
