Dengue death toll in Rajasthan rises to 12, 3,860 test positive in 12 days

JAIPUR: Four people have died and a whopping 3,860 people have tested positive to dengue across the state in the last 12 days. With this, the total number of people who have lost their lives to the disease has touched 12 this year.


According to sources, five persons died in Jaipur, two each in Bharatpur, Alwar and Sikar while one died in Karauli within a month.



According to the health department report, 7,981 persons have been diagnosed with dengue this year so far, out of which 3,860 tested positive to the disease in the past 12 days (from November 1 to November 12).

Health department officials claimed that they had found breeding grounds of mosquitoes in houses. In the past three months (from August to November), they have found four-lakh breeding sites of mosquitoes.

Health minister Raghu Sharma said they had conducted door-to-door campaign to fight the vector-borne disease. The teams inspected 1.3crore houses across the state to conduct anti-larvae activities since August. During inspection, health department officials found 4 lakh people suffering from the fever.

The health department officials said they distributed pamphlets for awareness in areas affected by dengue.

In the last 12 days, the city has reported 612 new cases of dengue. The number of cases reported this year in the city so far has increased to 2,304.

Senior professor (medicine) of Sawai Man Singh Medical College, CL Nawal said, “Every day, 10-15 people are diagnosed with dengue in the hospital. People should take precautions.”
