Edu dept inspects PM SHRI schools to make action plan

Jaipur: The education department will prepare an action plan for 402 PM SHRI schools in Rajasthan based on an inspection conducted by its officials in Jaipur on Saturday.

The officials checked facilities like drinking water, availability of toilets, green initiatives at the school campus, computer education among others.

“In Jaipur, 28 schools operating under the first phase of the PM SHRI scheme were intensively inspected by the Rajasthan Council of School Education (RCSE) officials. This inspection mainly focused on the school's basic infrastructure, clean drinking water, functional toilets, running water in toilets, green school activities, science lab, ICT lab, vocational lab, library, regular use of smart class, organization of educational and co-curricular activities, food arrangements, use of sports equipment, and proper record maintenance,” said Avichal Chaturvedi, state project director of RCSE.

He stated that based on the assessment of the reports obtained from this inspection programme, necessary steps will be taken in the upcoming session to benefit the students of PM SHRI schools through the scheme's activities, optimal utilisation of funds, quality construction works, and better use of available resources in the school.

To establish PM SHRI schools as exemplary schools, the responsibilities of teachers, institution heads, block, and district-level officials will be determined, added the official.

Officials also said that an intensive inspection of 402 schools operating under the first phase in the state will be conducted in future.

PM SHRI schools will act as model schools at the block level. Rajasthan has the maximum number of schools in the country, selected under this initiative, where schools will be upgraded and Rs 2 crore of fund will be given to each school. Of this budget, 30% of the amount can be spent on civil works and 40% of the amount on project innovation.

In the second phase of the project, 237 more schools from the state were selected by the central government for the project. Officials said that the objective of PM SHRI schools is to transform schools by ensuring access to quality, equitable and inclusive education at all levels as per the recommendations of the National Education Policy.
