Eleven Lucknow University affiliated colleges can't admit students in UG, PG courses

Lucknow: Lucknow University, on Wednesday, barred 11 associated private colleges from admitting students in total six undergraduate and postgraduate courses with around 1,000 seats in this academic session as they have failed to get an extension of the recognition granted to these courses.

The decision was taken after colleges did not complete the required process despite several reminders.

The courses include BA, BBA, BCom, BCom (Hons) and BBA(IB), besides master course in Journalism and mass communication. Colleges have been directed to refund fees to the students in case they have already taken admission.

According to rules, a new course started in a college is initially given a temporary recognition and later when it fulfils all requirements, the courses are recognised permanently. Till the time they are not able to meet necessary requirements, the colleges have to periodically get an extension of recognition. The term of temporary recognition varies from one course to another.

LU vice-chancellor SP Singh said that the colleges were told to file report on whether they have met the parameters required to run these courses by June 30. The parametres include student-teacher ratio, infrastructure and laboratory among others.

The list of these 11 colleges along with the courses will be uploaded on LU website soon, he added. He also said that strict action if they continued to take admissions in violation of our orders.
