Commentary
  • Right then, that is it from this game. South Africa have been dealt a knockout blow in their chance of making it to the semi-finals. However, don't go anywhere as the virtual knockout between Pakistan and Bangladesh is set to begin at 9.30 am IST (4 am GMT). You can switch tabs to catch all the updates. Cheers!
  • Scott Edwards, the victorious skipper of Netherlands is up for a chat. He says he is lost for words. Adds they are quite use to such conditions in Netherlands and credits the boys for the way they played. He is pleased they managed to end the tournament on a high and secured qualification for the next World Cup.
  • Temba Bavuma, the captain of South Africa is up for a chat. He says they are disappointed, they were playing well till now and it was a game they should have won but it is a tough one to swallow. Adds they were just under par and they once again kept losing wickets at wrong times and it is going to be a tough one to swallow.
  • Colin Ackermann is the player of the match for his brillian knock. He says that it is a fantastic feeling and they deserved this victory. Adds that they have worked really hard for this. Mentions that the pitch was slow and there was a bit of turn, but the plan was to take the game deep and luckily the boundaries flowed at the end.
  • Presentation time...
  • Earlier in the day, Netherlands got themselves to a competitive total thanks to some handy contributions from the top order. They though did brilliantly with the ball to defend that.
  • South Africa, just did not have that one batter who would help them get over the line. They needed someone to go on and plan an innings of significance but that did not happen. A few of them got off to starts but none went on to make use of it. In the end, they were reliant on David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen to finish it but the two failed to do so too.
  • The key for the Dutch was wickets at regular intervals. Whenever, they were pushed onto the back foot, they managed to strike. All their bowlers bowled with excellent control. Fred Klaassen was brilliant but it was Glover's two overs and the spell from Bas de Leede which won them the game. However, credit to all their bowlers and the fielders who were absolutely brilliant.
  • What a win, what a win that is for Netherlands. Not only them and their fans but the whole of Pakistan and Bangladesh will be celebrating along with them.  The two now have a chance to make it through to the semis out of nowhere. The South African fans are in disbelief. They were overwhelming favourites heading into this encounter but have come out second best. The Dutch have overcome the odds and have knocked South Africa out of the tournament. They have actually played as party spoilers. Unbelievable!
