Rajkummar Rao will change his usual small-town self for a gritty, action-oriented role in Maalik, the coming film. The trailer, which was released on July 3, has whipped up huge frenzy online with fans raving over the actor’s intense new persona and the high-drama action promised by the movie.
A Bold Change of Pace for Rajkummar Rao
Popular for his roles in movies such as Stree and Bhool Chuk Maaf, Rao has generally portrayed the average middle-class guy. With Maalik, he essays the role of a brutal, ambition-driven gangster, mouthes sharp dialogues, and takes over the screen with sheer intensity. One of the most memorable lines from the trailer — “Maalik paida nahi hue toh kya, bann toh sakte hain” sums up the ascent of his character from the streets to seats of power immaculately.
Coupled for the first time with ex-Miss World Manushi Chhillar, and opposite Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rao is a part of an intriguing cast. The film represents a big changeover in his life, as fans have commended him for experimenting with a rugged, edgy role.
