Several newly-released must-watch movies on Netflix made it to the top ten most-viewed flicks in the most recent week. One of them is Tyler Perry’s emotional drama on Netflix, Straw.
It has racked up a whopping 74.2 million views in just two weeks, making it the OTT’s most-watched film of the year till now. The psychological crime drama starring Taraji P. Henson in the lead is based on a single mother who is pushed to the edge after a series of unfortunate events leads her to an unexpected path where she becomes entangled in an unforeseen situation.
2. ‘K. O.’ (19.4 million views)Starring Ciryl Gane, the movie is based on an ex-MMA champion who is still reeling from his last fight. He is hired by a widow to rescue her kidnapped son. He teams up with a police officer who is looking to avenge her brother’s death.
3. ‘Titan: The OceanGate Submersible Disaster’ (17.4 million views)
Titan: The OceanGate Submersible Disaster looks closely at the OceanGate submersible tragedy that occurred in the spring of 2023. The documentary takes us years back in the company whose CEO had one neon-sign vision — a successful tour of the wreck of the Titanic ship.
It contains raw interviews of OceanGate’s former employees who worked closely with Stockton rush on Titan. They bare it all in this documentary about everything that was wrong with Titan.
This Mexican sci-fi romance stars Lucero and Benny Ibarra. It follows two physicists who are transported from 1966 to 2025. As they try to get accustomed to the modern world, the depth of their relationship and identities are tested.
5. ‘Plane’ (6.3 million views)The action thriller on Netflix has gathered more than six million views in one week. Starring Gerard Butler and Mike Colter, the movie follows a commercial pilot who teams up with a suspected murderer to save his passengers from a hostile territory after an emergency landing.
6. ‘Trainwreck: The Astroworld Tragedy’ (6.2 million views)The documentary on Netflix is based on the tragic stampede and crowd crush that occurred in 2021 during the Astroworld Festival. It is an annual musical event hosted by American rapper Travis Scott at NRG Park in Houston, Texas. The incident claimed a total of 10 lives.
7. ‘A Widow’s Game’ (4.8 million views)
The Spanish crime drama film is based on a perfectly calculated murder. When a man is found murdered, the investigation unveils his widow’s perfect facade and reveals many shocking secrets and a double life.
Jerry Seinfeld’s 2007 animated comedy is also streaming on Netflix and landed in the top 10 list. Barry the bee challenges the human race in this honey-fuelled legal drama. Its writing team consists of Jerry Seinfeld, Spike Feresten, Barry Marder and Andy Robin.
9. ‘Get Hard’ (4.4 million views)In this Netflix comedy, an ex-con (Kevin Hart) becomes mentor to a white-collar criminal (Will Ferrell) to train him for prison life. But he is unaware that his tutor has never actually done prison time.
10. ‘Cheers to Life’ (4.1 million views)The unusual love story follows Jessica and Gabriel. Gabriel is a carefree photographer while Jessica is a straightforward dealer in antique items. Their story begins with an antique pendant and ends with a journey of soul-searching.
