Gong Yoo is set to return as the mysterious recruiter with Squid Game Season 2. A teaser shared by Netflix on Monday saw the South Korean heartthrob inviting players to 'get back in the game'. Touted to be deadlier and darker than its wildly popular first season, Gong Yoo's invitation has sparked a curiosity about games that will be featured in the new part. While the goosebump-inducing teasers released so far did not give away much, we are listing five games that might be featured in the forthcoming installment.

1. Group jump rope

The participants are reported to be playing the deadly 'group jump rope' game this season. The game is a much-loved childhood activity often featured during the field day at the majority of the public schools. Given the nature of the show, it is expected to be tweaked, with players expected to be sliced to pieces by the sharp hooks on the ropes if they fail to jump in sync.

 2. Biseokchigi

Biseokchigi is a popular category of traditional Korean games involving skillful throwing or kicking of rocks. The game, which has a wide variety of regional names, can be played by a duo or among teams. Usually, the game is played with a line drawn and a stone placed atop it. The objective for one player or team is to use their stone to topple the stone of the other player of the team. While generally it would be a fun exercise, the losing team may get shot in the second season.

 3. Gonggi

A Korean version of Jacks and Seven Stones, Gonggi is played with plastic or regular pebbles. The player is required to throw a stone in the air and grab one of the stones in play before the airborne stone lands on the ground. A similar game also exists in India known as 'gutte'. In the Squid Game version of the game, the player may get shot dead if the airborne stone hits the floor.

 4.Hopscotch

Hopscotch, a popular game in South Korea, was referenced in episode 3 of season 1. It is played on a court drawn out with a series of linear squares of varying sizes. A player chooses their hopping destination by throwing a marker on the court and skipping the square where the marker lands. A similar version of the game was played in episode 7 of last season.

 5. Elastics

The game, mentioned frequently throughout season 1, includes two participants facing each other who have an elastic band stretched around their ankles on both ends. A third player jumps over the two parallel lines formed by the bands. The aim is to avoid tripping or touching the bands while doing so. If failed, it could lead to elimination by death in the new season.

Squid Game Season 2 arrives December 26 on Netflix.
