Create On India: Re-discover our traditions, culture and heritage

“People don’t take trips, trips take people.” – John Steinbeck

More than five decades ago, American author John Steinbeck and Nobel Prize winner described wanderlust succinctly, as ever.

The pull of the unknown, over the years, has made humans gravitate towards uncharted territory and unmapped latitudes. It is this urge to explore the unexplored that has helped folks dream of new vistas and newer horizons, after having conquered famous destinations and landmarks that have stood the test of time. It is also this urge that has made many seek comfort in the familiar.

At Indiatimes, we have chosen to engage in time travel as we bring the old and new worlds together. Along with MakeMyTrip Homestays and Villas, and Ather EV, we have embarked on a quest to rediscover our roots.

It’s a trip across pincodes, from the North to the South and the East to the West of the country. Call it the joy of (re)discovering one’s roots, traditions, culture and heritage as curiosity meets convention across towns and cities.

Through local storytellers, we bring you the tales of happy feet as they land on shores that have a unique charm about them. We go beyond the headlines as we gather the quirks and the angularities of scenic spots that are brimming with life and distinct social mores.

From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Paonta Saheb to Pondicherry and Gangtok to Goa, we have tried to understand the spirit of India that keeps a billion-plus of us going, every day.

It is the same spirit which Prime Minister Narendra Modi invoked, earlier in March this year, as he exhorted content creators to start a 'Create on India Movement'.  He urged the youth to take India to the world, and become ambassadors of our rich cultural tapestry, by sharing "stories related to India, India's culture, India's heritage and traditions with the globe."

Create on India salutes that spirit. Come, be a part of it. Join us in the journey of (re)discovery of India!

Team Indiatimes.
