Superman Trump? AI post triggers trolling and outrage

Hero Image

The White House on Thursday posted an AI-generated image of US President Donald Trump depicted as Superman. The post called the 79-year-old leader a “symbol of hope” and was shared just after the release of James Gunn’s Superman. The tweet read: “The symbol of hope. Truth. Justice. The American way. Superman Trump.”

This is not the first time AI-generated content featuring Trump has been shared. In May, before the election of Pope Leo, Trump had posted an image of himself as the Pope. When some Catholics expressed offence, Trump responded a week later, saying it was only meant as “a little fun.”

Online reactions and social media trolls

Following the Superman image, Trump again faced criticism and trolling online. Many users referenced the long-standing controversy surrounding his alleged connection to Jeffrey Epstein, brought up again recently by former ally Elon Musk.

Comments flooded the post. One user tweeted, “I never thought I'd see the day when the White House is just a joke. This is so embarrassing.”

Another added, “And the Epstein files are his Kryptonite.”

The backlash comes at a time when Trump is facing growing scrutiny over his online presence and the White House's communication style, especially involving sensitive political issues and satire.

Trade tensions rise with new tariffs

Meanwhile, Trump announced a 35 per cent tariff on Canadian imports, effective August 1. He also revealed plans to impose blanket tariffs of 15–20 per cent on several other trading partners.

The White House has already issued tariff letters to 22 countries, including a significant 50 per cent tariff on Brazilian imports. Another 50 per cent tariff on copper imports is also scheduled to begin August 1.

These economic decisions come amid strained relationships with key trading nations and growing concerns over inflation and trade policy impacts within the U.S.

Elon Musk’s political push and Epstein files

In parallel, Elon Musk has stated that releasing the Epstein files is one of the priorities of his new political outfit, the America Party. His remarks align with a renewed focus on how the government has handled documentation related to Epstein’s sex-trafficking network.

Musk and others have questioned the transparency surrounding these documents, reigniting public interest in the matter and putting pressure on U.S. institutions for more disclosure.

A single AI image sparked global reactions, as Trump’s trade decisions and Epstein links drew criticism from both allies and opponents.
