Jeff Bezos carries out first Amazon stock sale of 2025
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has sold shares worth $737 million (approx) in the e-commerce company over the past few days. This comes to light just days after he tied the knot with his partner, Lauren Sanchez, in a grand ceremony.

He sold 3.3 million Amazon shares worth $736.7 million in late June, around the time of his wedding, according to a regulatory filing submitted by Amazon.com Inc to the SEC. This was revealed after U.S. markets closed on Tuesday. Investors are now likely to monitor Amazon’s stock once trading begins on Wednesday.

This recent Amazon share sale is part of a 10b5-1 trading policy Bezos adopted in March, allowing for the sale of up to 25 million shares. Since the plan's adoption, Amazon’s stock has risen by over 8%. This is in line with a broader upswing in U.S. markets.
Bezos is no stranger to selling sharesBezos owns 905 million Amazon shares following the sale. He had founded the company in 1994. The 61-year-old has a net worth of $241.4 million, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. This makes him the third-richest man in the world.
According to Bloomberg, the billionaire regularly uses 10b5-1 trading plans, having sold 75 million shares in 2023 through such arrangements, generating $13.6 billion. This makes it easy for company insiders to sell shares at scheduled intervals and avoid allegations of insider trading.
Coming back to the current sale, it is the first one Bezos has executed in the current year. However, in 2025, Bezos donated nearly 930,000 Amazon shares to nonprofit organizations.
In March, Bezos revealed he had donated Amazon shares valued at approximately $60 million to undisclosed charities. He also gifted shares worth about $125 million in May and a further $5 million in June.
