Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Movie's Tickets Sold Out Within Minutes In Japan
Tickets for the world’s earliest premiere screenings of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie – Infinity Castle Arc Chapter 1: The Return of Akaza sold out within 15 minutes of release, according to reports.
The high demand also led to website crashes and significant online queues for several theater chains.
The tickets went on sale at 12:00 a.m. on Monday, July 14, for special midnight screenings scheduled for Friday, July 18. Some users reported being placed as far back as 2,000th in the online queue within 20 minutes of the sales launch.
Theaters participating in the midnight premiere included TOHO CINEMAS in Shinjuku, Hibiya, and Shibuya, among others in Tokyo, as well as theaters in the prefectures of Hokkaido, Miyagi, Kanagawa, Aichi, Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, Hiroshima, Tokushima, and Fukuoka.
This sell outmirrored the ticketing launch for the franchise’s previous film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train
Reports from that period noted online queues for Mugen Train tickets surpassed 200,000 people at some chains within a day.

The feature-length film has a runtime of 155 minutes, and is the first instalment of the planned trilogy of movies which will adapt the “Infinity Castle” arc from the original manga by Koyoharu Gotouge.
Followed by the movie’s release in Japan on July 18, an international release starting from Aug 12, 2025 by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment has been announced. The movie will hit theatres in United States and Canada on Sep 12, 2025.
LiSA and Aimer are returning to perform the theme songs of the movie. A brand new trailer was released to commemorate this news in June.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba was serialized in Shueisha’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020, with its chapters collected in 23 tankobon volumes. It went on to become on of the highest selling manga with over 150 million copies in circulation.
