Golden Kamuy Anime Gets New OVA & Mini Episode Bundled With Spinoff Novel In October
The official website of Golden Kamuy announced that the anime is returning with a new OVA episode and a bonus mini-episode, both set to release on Oct 17, 2025, as part of a limited Blu-ray bundle accompanying the franchise’s first official spinoff novel.
OVA is based on the Lightning Thief and Viper Ogin arc from the original manga, while the mini episode is titled Shimaenaga
Both stories are being animated by Brain’s Base, with Shizutaka Sugahara serving as chief director.
The spin-off novel is written by Amon Ibuki, and is titled Tsurumi Tokushirou No Shukugan. This marks the franchise’s first full-length side story outside of Satoru Noda’s original manga.
It will explore events during the Russo-Japanese War, focusing on Lieutenant Tsurumi and the 7th Division.
The Blu-ray bundle is available for preorder until Aug 18, 2025. It is priced at 5,368 yen.
Moreover, a new key visual for the OVA was also revealed to commemorate Japan’s Lover’s Day.
Golden Kamuy manga was serialized in Shueisha’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump from August 2014 to April 2022, with its chapters collected in 31 tankobon volumes.
An anime television series adaptation produced by Geno Studio aired with two seasons from April to December 2018. A third season aired from October to December 2020. A fourth season produced by Brain’s Base aired from October 2022 to June 2023.
A fifth season adapting the manga’s final arc has been announced.
A live-action film premiered in Japanese theaters on Jan 19, 2024, and the film’s sequel drama series aired on WOWOW on Oct 6.
