Orange's emaqi Manga App Launches In US & Canada With 13,000 Manga Volumes And Nearly 50 Exclusives
Orange Inc. officially launched its new manga reading platform, emaqi, in the United States and Canada on May 28, 2025.
The platform is available now on iOS and Android and features over 13,000 officially licensed manga volumes across 1,700 series at launch.
The app includes titles from major manga publishers such as VIZ Media, Kodansha USA, Yen Press, Akita Shoten, Futabasha, Shonen Gahosha, Nihon Bungeisha, and COAMIX.
It also features nearly 50 exclusive manga series that are debuting in English for the first time. These exclusives include Anjo The Mischievous Gal, The Vampire Dies In No Time, and Liverleaf.
Orange stated that it aims to increase the number of exclusive titles to 100 by the end of 2025.
“I started this company because I wanted fans around the world to have the same opportunity to enjoy manga culture as we do in Japan. More than 95% of manga published in Japan have never been released in English. We aim to change that by exposing more incredible manga works to overseas audiences,” stated Shoko Ugaki, CEO & Founder of Orange.
To celebrate the launch, emaqi is running a limited-time campaign from May 28, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. to July 8 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. During the campaign period, users will be able to:
- Read up to three volumes for free from 10 of VIZ Media’s most popular titles, including Naruto, One Piece, and My Hero Academia
- Access all emaqi-exclusive translated titles through a “Wait Until Free” model, which unlocks one chapter every 23 hours at no cost
- Receive 50% coin-back on purchases, up to 25,000 coins per user
emaqi includes several features designed to improve the reading and discovery experience:
- Dig: A browsing tool that lets users explore recommended works by swiping vertically through chapters and switching between series with horizontal swipes.
- Personalized Recommendations: Readers receive tailored suggestions on both the home screen and the Dig interface based on their reading habits.
- Personalized Bookshelf: A customizable library showing users’ reading history, purchased volumes, and favorite series.
- Automatic Text Enlargement (Coming Soon): A smartphone-optimized feature that will allow users to enlarge text within speech bubbles without affecting the manga’s original artwork.
emaqi uses a pay-per-title system, but also provides access to free one-shot manga and select chapters via its timed release model.
