"He lasted four balls": Former English player trolls Washinton Sundar after India's defeat at Lord's

The young Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar had made a bold prediction that India will surely be winning by Lunch or after that. However, that India lost to England, and after the last hours of utmost resistance from Ravindra Jadeja and the lower order had made Washington an easy target for all the trolls, especially from the former England cricketer, David Lloyd.

Following the defeat, Lloyd, in his column for the Daily Mail, had almost shut up Washington, saying that it is always better to let the talent speak more than words. Notably, the 25-year-old had no such contributions with the bat so far but took 4 wickets in the second innings when the rest were struggling. Lloyd wrote,

“The young man (Sundar) was brilliant with the ball then confidently declared that India would easily win the game easily. There was no doubt that England heard those comments because they let him know when he walked out to bat. Anyways, he lasted four balls. A classic case of keep quiet and let your talent do the talking on the pitch. I’m sure he’ll learn.”

Apart from Washi, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj took two each. Akash Deep and Nitish Kumar Reddy got one each in their pockets too.

England Seal Thriller by 22 Runs as Jadeja’s Lone Fight Falls Short

England defeated India by 22 runs in a gripping final-day Test match where fortunes kept swinging like a pendulum. With a target of 193 on the board, India folded for 170 despite a brave 61* off 181 balls from Ravindra Jadeja. In a match where every run counted, the 32 extra runs gifted by India in England's second innings proved decisive. The margin of defeat? Just 10 short of those extras.

Jadeja stood tall amid ruins, batting for 266 minutes, watching partners fall one by one. KL Rahul, a stick of hope, left after 39 runs from 58 balls with an LBW call from Ben Stokes. The next ray, Rishabh Pant, was doomed after Jofra Archer banged his off stump with a jaffa. Jasprit Bumrah, who tackled for 104 minutes went berserk and tried to hit a short ball, only to get caught. And then luck gave up too! If someone ever believed that Mohammed Siraj had actually middled the ball! Siraj hung on for 64 minutes, took a hit banging on his left shoulder, but he stood there with his Jadeja, but alas!

Two men on two sides of the pitch, one on his knees trying to process the defeat, and the other broken, standing, but given up! As India fell short, the bigger question remains: Who truly cost the match? Was it poor top-order intent, Rishabh Pant's runout or the avoidable extras? That postmortem can wait. For now, Jadeja... what a man he is! Whatta man he has been!
