City based artistes come together for an Odissi ballet recital

Odissi exponent Sutapa Talukdar recently hosted an event named Preyashee Katha with her senior students and six stage-confident toddlers. The Odissi ballet recital was a part of ICCR ’s Horizon Series this year, a project conceptualised by three Sangeet Natak Akademi award winners Ramhari Das, Dhaneshwar Swain and Sutapa Talukdar.

The show was divided into two parts, Nayika Bheda and Chautisha. While the first focused on the classification of men and women based on their behavior, as described in Natya Shastra, the latter was an enactment of an early form of Odia poetry written by Kavi Bhakta Das.
